An alumnus of The British School in Delhi, Akhil Verma, has had an exceptional interest in fashion and art since his formative years. A keen student of design, he went on to study fashion and specialised in styling from the London School of Fashion, followed by mentoring by ace Indian couturier Rohit Bal for two years. It was after his stint with Rohit Bal, where he learnt all aspects of the industry that he decided to foray into retail, by opening Pitaraah, a multi-designer store, specialising in contemporary and traditional Indianwear. After six successful years with his retail project, he decided to take the property digital, adding many more names and supporting many more local businesses.
After working with leading media houses as a journalist and editor, Deepti Verma, started her own fashion trunk show, called Chicathon and a digital platform, exclusively for women, called The Homegirl Network. She had co-founded Pitaraah with her brother-in-law, Akhil, and now once again, decided to joined forces for its digital avatar. With a good insight into the female shopping mind, she looks mainly at the marketing aspects of the brand and is forever looking for new talent and fruitful collaborations.
